Thank you for your thoughts. Tony Blair has a credibility problem in Europe -- like it or not, he's having lapped up to Bush and his having been the biggest single dividing force in the run up to the invasion of and war on Iraq is an enormous hurdle that he will have to face and there's a lot of issues that he will have to tackle, eg, Euro and Schenghen.

I doubt very much that he will be appointed at all.

Is this thread still running? If so - well, here's your Blair fan from Britain. I think he'd make a great EU president. But I also believe he has been a great PM for my country. And, I never voted Labour, because of a long-time commitment to another party.

When his own party pushed for him to depart - remember the voters did not vote him out (they voted him IN three times) - I felt it was wrong. I hadn't been pro-Iraq war but I started to look at it more seriously then - the reasons why; what went wrong; who is doing the killing in Iraq.

I have now come round to feeling that it probably WAS right despite the evident issues.

And I have to tell you that there is no other more pro EU politician in Labour than Blair. If he hadn't been faced down by Brown and others within his party he'd have gone for the euro years ago. Adn on the global stage he really DOES understand the complexities of all the inter-connecting relationships - trade/climate/economic.

If you want Europe to be BIG on the world stage go for Blair.

They'd have him as US President tomorrow if they could.

Next best thing for world and financial security: EU President.

Wait until Blair speaks his magic on YOUR behalf.

He'll even get the Brits into Europe PROPERLY. I guarantee it!

Or, on the other hand, you could always choose an also-ran.
